From Application Requirements to Production-Ready Waterproof Transformer
Step 1 — Application Review
Send the input voltage, output voltage, rated current, load type, cable distance, ambient temperature, IP requirement and installation information.
Step 2 — Engineering Evaluation
ECKO evaluates transformer capacity, winding design, voltage regulation, temperature rise, insulation, protection components, enclosure and cable assembly.
Step 3 — Quotation and Drawing
You receive a commercial quotation together with the proposed electrical and mechanical specification. Key parameters are confirmed before prototype production.
Step 4 — Prototype Manufacturing
A custom sample is manufactured using the agreed materials and construction. Sample lead time can be as fast as 1–3 days for suitable projects with available materials.
Step 5 — Sample Verification
The customer checks electrical performance, dimensions, mounting, cable connections and operation with the actual equipment. Any required changes are reviewed before approval.

Outdoor Waterproof Transformer FAQ
1. Does a waterproof transformer need to be grounded?
Grounding requirements depend on the insulation construction, enclosure material, protection class and local electrical regulations. A metal enclosure or exposed conductive mounting part may require protective grounding, while a double-insulated design may use a different protection method.
2. Where should fuses or circuit breakers be installed?
Protection may be required on the primary side, secondary side or both, depending on the transformer design and connected load. The protective device must be selected according to rated current, startup current, cable capacity and applicable safety requirements.
3. What happens when the transformer’s thermal protection is activated?
The transformer output may stop when its internal temperature exceeds the protection limit. An automatic thermal protector may reset after cooling, while a thermal fuse is usually non-resettable. The selected protection type should match the required safety strategy.
4. Can a fully potted waterproof transformer be repaired?
A fully encapsulated transformer is normally not intended for internal repair because the windings and protective components are sealed in resin. If a potted unit fails, replacement is usually safer and more practical than attempting to open it.
5. Can the transformer resist chlorine, fertilizer or cleaning chemicals?
Standard waterproof protection does not guarantee resistance to every chemical. For pool, garden or agricultural environments, the enclosure, cable jacket, seals and mounting hardware should be selected according to the expected chemical exposure.
6. Does the transformer include lightning and surge protection?
Basic transformer insulation does not provide complete protection against severe lightning or mains surges. External surge protective devices may be required, especially for long outdoor cable runs and installations in lightning-prone areas.
7. Can the transformer operate from a generator or inverter?
It may be possible, but the generator or inverter must provide the correct voltage, frequency and waveform. Poor waveform quality, voltage spikes or unstable frequency can increase transformer noise, temperature rise and no-load current.
8. How does ECKO control consistency between samples and mass production?
Approved drawings, bills of materials, winding specifications and process instructions are controlled before production. Critical parameters such as turns ratio, wire size, core material, insulation structure and test limits are recorded to maintain batch consistency.
